The Beckham family is well known among many circuits. There's no need to be a sports fan to recognise the name, David Beckham. His popularity goes beyond sport. Part of this, it could be said, is his marriage to 'Posh Spice', Victoria. Their kids have gained some form of fame due to their parents.
The Beckhams have made the headlines recently but not for any good reason. There seems to be a rift between one of the sons, Brooklyn and his parents.
All isn't well in Beckhamville. The Beckham family feud rumours have been ongoing for over a month now, spurred on by the notable absence of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz-Beckham from recent family events.
There are ongoing mixed messages: last week, Brooklyn seemingly avoided his father when he was visiting London, despite being just five minutes away from each other. Then, later that week, David and Victoria posted a picture where a framed portrait of the whole family - including Brooklyn - was propped up on a table beside them.
Last Sunday, Brooklyn Beckham made his allegiances clear, posting a video of himself and Nicola Peltz to Instagram with the caption: "My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby."
This comes after Brooklyn failed to see his family in the capital this week after he flew in for a photoshoot with fashion brand, Moncler, which took place in west London. Around the exact same time, David Beckham was out and about nearby, visiting the Chelsea Flower Show.
Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham appears to be doing her best to quiet the feud rumours. On 19 May, she shared a throwback picture of the entire family, Brooklyn included, with her father, Tony, in celebration of his birthday. "We both love you all so much," the Instagram story assured.
According to The Sun, Victoria is the most keen to mend the relationship, with sources claiming that Harper Beckham’s 14th birthday celebrations may be the answer. However, another insider dashed dreams of a reunion, claiming: “It doesn’t seem likely at the moment.”
For the Beckhams, family is everything. It has been widely reported that the Beckham feud began around December, when Romeo Beckham started dating London-born DJ, Kim Turnbull, who TMZ claimed was Brooklyn’s ex-girlfriend.
It turns out it’s not quite that simple, as youngest Beckham brother, Cruz, clarified on Instagram that Brooklyn and Kim aren’t actually former partners. "Brooklyn and Kim never dated," he explained in an Instagram comment in response to fans asking about the feud.
What is known is this: the two Londoners used to hang out when they were teenagers, with Beckham, 26, and Turnbull, 24, spotted flirting around the same time that she was linked to another nepo baby: Rocco Ritchie, son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
This was around 2017, before Beckham and Turnbull appeared to go their separate ways. Now, she’s back and dating a Beckham brother — for real this time. Turnbull has gone official with the second eldest Beckham child, Romeo, 22, who has been previously linked to photographer ,Gray Sorrenti and model, Mia Regan, his long-term ex-girlfriend.
Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull are fully established as a couple, appearing at family events and posing for group photos with David and Victoria Beckham. Insiders are claiming that this is what has led to the rift between Brooklyn Beckham, Nicola Peltz-Beckham and the rest of the family.
The feud rumours gained real traction after Brooklyn and Nicola failed to attend David Beckham’s early 50th birthday celebrations last month, when every other member of the core Beckham clan was present.
Then came Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz-Beckham’s third wedding anniversary on 9 April. Fans noticed that none of the family chose to congratulate them on the milestone, sparking further suspicion.
On 17 April, Victoria Beckham celebrated her 51st birthday in the company of her loving family — all apart from Brooklyn and Nicola. While the majority of the Beckham family were partying with Victoria on the family’s superyacht in Miami, Brooklyn and Nicola were busying living it up at Coachella.
Fans also noticed that neither Brooklyn or Nicola acknowledged Victoria’s birthday on social media, while the rest of the family did. David kicked off the birthday tributes for Victoria by sharing old photos of the Spice Girls star with their children, writing: "Happy Birthday Mummy. We all love you sooooo much," adding, "Happy Birthday to the most amazing Wife, Mummy & Best Friend that we could all wish for. Have the most perfect day because you deserve to and we love you so much."
Romeo followed, writing: "Happy Birthday to the most amazing mum, keep shining and making us all proud, love you lots." Cruz, age 20, added: "Happy Birthday to the most inspirational mum, you have done everything for us."
Meanwhile, a bit of potential beef between the Beckham brood was noticed in the Instagram comments section. In a post by Mia Regan, Romeo’s ex-girlfriend, Nicola Peltz commented saying: "So beautiful Mia," with the sparkle and pink heart emoji. Then, days later, Cruz commented the exact same thing under his brother Romeo’s Instagram post, "So beautiful Romeo”, while Romeo responded with laughing emojis.
Thinly veiled posts have seemingly come from Brooklyn and the star's younger brother, Cruz, seemingly waded into the row with a cryptic post. The 20-year-old shared a post to his Instagram Stories that read: "It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown and 17 to smile."
It then concluded: "Be kind and tell the truth." Cruz added several pointing hand emojis, indicating the phrase's importance in his post.
This isn't the first time that Cruz has weighed in amid reports of a wider family feud. Initial reports seemed to indicate that Brooklyn and Romeo had the fallout owing to Romeo's relationship with Kim Turnbull.
After noticing a scathing remark beneath a post Romeo made about Kim, Cruz came to his defence. "It's appropriate to date your brother's ex, too? Cool," one fan had penned, prompting Cruz to clarify: "Brooklyn and Kim never dated."
There have been rumours of fallouts ever since Brooklyn Beckham, 26, married Nicola Peltz, 30, three years ago, and speculation has mounted over the past few weeks. The family have largely kept a dignified silence on whispers of an ongoing feud, despite plenty of apparent drama and cryptic social media posts.
Just this week, Brooklyn revealed around 70 of his 100 tattoos are dedicated to his wife. "She always cries when I get her another tattoo," he told USA Today. "I always love to surprise her with new ink."
In 2022, there were reports Nicola had refused to wear one of fashion icon Victoria’s designs for the big day. "No family is perfect. No family," she told the Sunday Times in October that year, explaining that she, her mother, Victoria and her longtime stylist were in a text chain discussing bridal designer ideas.
Victoria reportedly messaged Nicola’s mother to say her atelier wouldn’t be able to make the dress in time and so they regrouped and, "came up with something else."
Rumours of a rift have only increased in this month, after Brooklyn and Nicola didn’t attend any of his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations. A source told Metro that Brooklyn is keen to patch things up with his father and was sad not to attend his big bash.
"Brooklyn feels disappointed in himself for not attending David’s 50th birthday party," they said. "He wants things to go back to how they were, but it feels as if the divide has separated the family deeply."
It was recently claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited Brooklyn and Nicola to dinner to show their support.
It’s said they extended an, 'unexpected invite' to the young couple, as they bonded over similar ‘toxic’ family experiences, as a source told The Sun that the quartet dined at the Sussexes’ £11million mansion in Montecito, California.
It’s claimed 'Harry was fully aware of the situation and offered Brooklyn his unwavering support as someone who has been through similar', while Meghan and Nicola found 'common ground' after both parties were accused of causing a rift in their husbands’ families.
It now appears that the youngest Beckham brother, Cruz, 20, is trying to mend the growing family divide. In a heartfelt post, he 'begged' for the truth and wrote. 'It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile. Be kind and tell the truth.'
Reports suggest that Brooklyn and Nicola skipped several key family events-including the party at the Beckhams' Cotswolds home, a trip to Franc, and a dinner at the Notting Hill restaurant, Core-despite flying to London.
Adding salt to the wound, the rift seemed to escalate further when Brooklyn and Nicola flew into the UK from their home in Los Angeles on Monday for a photoshoot with Italian luxury brand Moncler. Notably, Brooklyn reportedly didn't inform David and Victoria about their visit to the country.
Family drama is never simple and clear-cut. It can be hard to resolve. I think the best course of action is to have one big family get-together, accompanied by a mediator, to clear the air and to be a family again. Having a dysfunctional family can be damaging; especially if the family is famous.
