Hair can be a big talking point in sports. Athletes tend to sport different styles. The most popular tends to be a ponytail. No matter the hairdo, it's an unwritten rule that opposition players can't manhandle other players' hair.
Despite this, this was ignored by players in the Caribbean as two red cards were dished out.
A CONCACAF Nations League match was blighted by two late red cards for pulling the ankle-length hair of an opponent.
With hair that reaches his ankles, Aedan Scipio's dreadlocks are certainly hard to miss. In fact, the 36-year-old's hair is so long that he has to wear a band around his waist to keep it tied to his body.
While the forward's lengthy locks may be his standout feature; they can be somewhat of an operational hazard.
Scipio emerged from the bench in the 69th minute with Anguilla already 5-0 down against Antigua and Barbuda in their CONCACAF Nations League game at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
It took just three minutes for Scipio to inadvertently make an impact; when opponent, Keon Greene, was shown a straight red card for tugging his dreadlocks.
Incredibly, the hair-pulling didn't end there. Antigua and Barbuda were reduced to nine men in added time when Scipio was taken off his feet by Shalon Knight pulling his dreadlocks from behind.
Despite Antigua and Barbuda ending the game with nine men; they held onto their 5-0 lead to win.
The dismissals didn't change the result. By the end of the game, hardly anyone was talking about the five goals. Instead, Scipio and his remarkable hair had become the biggest talking point.
Antigua and Barbuda are ranked 163rd. Scipio's Anguilla are 210th in FIFA's international rankings; with San Marino the only nation below them.
Anguilla may have lost heavily but going forward; they might be able to use him as football's strangest cheat codes.
I find the pulling of hair to be a different form of a low blow. It's an ameteurish move to gain an advantage. No one should resort to this. As proved above and from other claims; everyone will be caught; there's nowhere to hide.
The moral of this story is that hair should be left alone.
